<p>Must have this function come back with help.</p>
<p>Also now with this unit NAV does not boot up till you hit the
NAV button, so you have two boot times whenever you switch off, why
is this previous unit booted everything at the one time!</p></div>mrcjmullertag:support.vms4x4.com,2011-07-06:Comment/274281252013-06-25T03:45:14Z2013-06-25T03:45:14ZMP3<div><p>Hi Carl</p>
<p>could you take a photo of the firmware version screen for me
please? See attached photos for the screen that I'm after. Also
could you take a photo of the main menu for me please?</p>
<p>Also I would highly recommend against storing MP3's on the SD
card as this is not it's intended purpose and it is possible that
the unit might struggle for memory if you fill the SD card up with
MP3's, given that the card is nearly full at the moment. I would
suggest running MP3's through a USB stick instead, that and there's
also the possibility of loosing the SD card if you continue to move
it from unit to computer and a replacement SD card comes in at
$299, USB sticks are rather cheap and more to the point you'll be
able to fit more on there, last time I checked a 16gb USB stick
could be gotten for under $20, under $15 if you shop around.</p>

<p>Sorry for the double up, however I was just talking to another
tech, and we checked with an older version of the hardware of the
75xx units and there was a function there to play MP3's off the SD
card, however that was changed to USB only for MP3 as there were a
few issues with SD cards and MP3 as I described above. The user
manual was not changed due to a administrative oversight.</p>
<p>I no longer need any screen shots.</p>
<p>Apologies for the multiple emails.</p>

Thanks for getting back to me, photos attached.<br>
Lets get something straight, have used this function with my
previous unit<br>
with no problems at all with running out off memory etc. this is
not my<br>
only way I use for music, I use USB + IPod + MP3 of the card depend
what I<br>
have with me at the time because it is on the card it is always
there!<br>
Seeing it is in the manual and I had it before this setup screen
needs to<br>
be changed to what was available before, there are useless items in
it like<br>
country for radio which is all Asian!<br>
I basically never remove the card normally maybe to update maps as
I have a<br>
library and load that once only.<br>
Why does the GPS not load at start up like my previous unit?</p>

<p>The radio country setting is to do with FM and AM spacing and
how individual countries radio systems work.</p>
<p>The UI cannot be changed I'm afraid to incorporate the MP3
button as you had before, as I said this was removed. You will note
that the current card only had about 500Mb left on it due to the
number of included maps that amounts to about $500 extra value with
the unit. If you like I can remove these from the card to free up
some space for you? There is over 1700 maps on the card
currently.</p>
<p>Filling the card to it's capacity is something I would highly
recommend against, and 500mb does not go far with MP3's.</p>
<p>The website does state:<br>
MP3 Player / USB support Stock up your music, with MP3 support you
can load thousands of songs on to a usb device or even burn them to
a CD.</p>
<p>Nowhere was a mention made of SD card storage of MP3's. Listing
what the unit does not do is somewhat impracticable. The unit is
well within spec.</p>

manual for this<br>
unit or as it was if you have now changed it today but I have a
copy that<br>
is as good as any other spec as that states it can be done!<br>
I have a 32Gb card and I have loaded8Gb of music on it that I want
to be<br>
able to play!<br>
The specs you are talking about are written the same as my old unit
years<br>
ago but then you could change the rear Entertainment to MP3 and I
cant<br>
believe that you don't have the firmware to change this as this
must be a<br>
recent change.<br>
If you are refusing to entertain changing for me or suppling a unit
that<br>
will consumer affairs might be the next step and social media to
get the<br>
word out about VMS support!</p>

<p>We have not changed the manual for a while, and by the looks of
it you've found a typo in the manual and this something that we
need to rectify. Apologies for that.</p>
<p>However the main specs on the main page do no mention anything
about playing MP3's from an SD card and when you consider the
support issues with loading music onto an SD card and the potential
for issues then it can quickly turn into a nightmare, for example;
people with apple mac computers and the mac writing indexing files
to every flash drive that is plugged into it (same with android),
people formatting cards (yes this has happened, far too many
times), viruses corrupting SD card (also far too many times),
people re-partitioning SD cards, the list goes on and on.</p>
<p>Another potential issue is that of read/write speeds and the BUS
being filled with MP3 streaming, rather than that of mapping data.
This will slow things down.</p>
<p>I am still missing your point about not using the USB, I really
don't understand and I'm sorry if I'm missing your point, however
using the USB, to me, seems like a much easier and more robust way
of playing your MP3's.</p>

Yes well after sleeping on it I have decide I will have to live
with it<br>
this way, pull the card again and delete MP3 files and maybe look
for map<br>
files to load.<br>
In criticism I don't know who administers your web site but it is
very<br>
badly done, as I found wrong literature, wrong pictures of units in
places<br>
and this manual is very badly written as pertaining to the USB
virtually<br>
makes no mention and certainly does not describe how to use it just
that I<br>
have used it before and are computer aware.<br>
I think you need to get your people to look at this area and get up
to<br>
speed as you will get more bad vibes if when you read online your
data and<br>
specs as I did then install and find it is not what you thought or
expected.</p>
<p>The double boot up to get the GPS working is silly I don't know
why that<br>
was changed from the previous unit I had when everything booted up
when you<br>
turned the key on, means you stop for a cuppa and then when you
jump back<br>
in you need to wait till audio boots then press NAV and wait again,
have<br>
considered fitting a switch so I can leave the unit on all day when
on a<br>
trip to avoid this.</p>
<p>Also had to make a power cable again as the ones in the box did
not fit *<br>
AGAIN* $20 from Repco and hour on the bench but in your defence you
do<br>
state late models on the web site.<br>
Have to pull unit again as bracket holes must be different unit
sits lower<br>
than before will get to that when weather is better.</p>
<p>Any further problems as I get familiar I will be back on your
case.</p>
