500s Screen Issue
Hello
I have a VMS 500s touring GPS running reversing camera, the screen has suddenly started showing only about 1/3 of the available area.
Essentially only the right hand third displays.
Any suggestions on what might be the issue and a guestimate of th ecost to repair.

Any chance of a photo of this? almost sounds like a broken screen, however with a photo I should be able to tell.

photos of screen attached.
The horizontal lines across the top have slowly appeared over the last 12 months or so (when switched on), just one to start with but every now and again another one appears. Does not impact the operation though.
Attachment VMS03 shows the shutdown screen, the touch screen operation still works - at least on the section you can see.

Or option 3: Trading your old 500S and upgrade to latest T700HDSII. The 700HDsII is a brand new unit, with a massive 7 inch screen, included is new street navigation software that is much more user friendly and more customisable to suit your preferences, along with upgraded street maps that have vastly improved coverage of both metro and country areas. There is also 3 years of free map updates for the street navigation (normally this is $49 a year). There is also improvements to the off road navigation software and more maps, over 1600 off road maps are also included, with excellent coverage of the Victorian high country (much in 50k or 25k), NSW topographic and Queensland topographic maps, giving excellent detail at the 1:25k scale for much of NSW and QLD. Its very disappointing for me to have a broken screen especially given the limited use the unit has had over the last couple of years, I thought I was buying a quality product, it does make me nervous about investing any more money on a VMS product.
If I was to go for the T700 upgrade would my existing rear camera set up plug directly into the new unit?
If I opted for a replacement screen would it be a new screen or a screen from another faulty unit.?

It really is most odd to have a screen fault, I have seen a few where the screen has been broken (one was in a customers suitcase and got broken, that's airport baggage handling for you!).
Yes the rear camera would work fine with the new unit (same plug for all our portable units).
The screen would be from a refurbished unit, as we are unable to source new screens I'm afraid. However the replacement screen in your new unit is soak tested for a couple of days to ensure that all is working fine.

What you will need to do is go to our home page www.vms4x4.com and under the support tab, you will need to log a warranty request. Once the request has been lodged, within 1-2 days you will received an r/a number and approval to send your unit back.

Yes still log a warranty request, we just use the warranty system to track the item to be honest, it's just easier (both for you and me) to use that and provides tracking for the unit and then everyone knows what's going on with it and where it is.
